With the holidays fast approaching, I am already feeling all the festive vibes but what I was looking forward to the most this year is Adelina’s first photo with Santa Claus! Last year, we weren’t able to get a photo with Santa because we were still too busy adjusting to new parent life; And truthfully, I was really regretful about that but now she is older and walking, so I was determined to create this special tradition with her. Thankfully, I got that wish fulfilled when I got invited to the preview of Christmas at Metropolis at Metrotown where finally we got our first photo with Santa and it was definitely a memorable experience (so make sure you scroll down to the very end for the end result). This holiday season not only are there opportunities to have your photos taken with Santa, Metropolis at Metrotown also offers tons of other amazing services and of course shops to make your holiday shopping seamless!
Photos with Santa
Of course the highlight of the holidays is always photos with Santa for the kids and there is no better place to do that than at Metropolis at Metrotown. Returning again, this popular holiday program is done all for charity and every single penny goes towards benefiting the Burnaby Christmas Bureau this holiday season. With a recommended $4 minimum donation per photo, you will receive a digital copy afterwards which is very convenient. Not to mention its a very reasonable price, they also did an amazing job with a winter wonderland theme-
think giant icicles caves, dazzling white lights, glittery silver and blue ornaments adorned on snow covered Douglas Fir trees to make it feel like you have stepped onto the magical set of Frozen. Photos with Santa have already begun and Metropolis encourages all visitors to come earlier as wait times will be less.

Text Guest Service
For example, shoppers can text 604-359-9111 to reach Metropolis’ Guest Services for assistance while in the mall or planning their trip to the mall. Inquire about finding a store, mall hours, parking, children’s stroller, and more. This service is available during mall hours.
Extended Holiday Hours
One of my favourite times during the holidays is extended mall hours because I’m usually a night person and I love shopping during the evening after dinner. If you are like me or need to pick up last minute gifts, Metropolis offers extended holiday hours from December 1 straight through until Christmas Eve as follows:
- November 29: 8:00am – 10:00pm
- December 1 – 18: 10:00am – 9:00pm – Daily (Expect Sundays: 10:00am – 7:00pm)
- December 19 – 23: 10:00am – 10:00pm – Moonlight Madness
- December 24: 10:00am – 6:00pm
- December 26: 8:00am – 10:00pm
Gift Wrap Services
I’m not the biggest fan of gift wrapping so I love that the mall is offering a wonderful gift wrapping service for you to get all your holiday needs done in one place. Along with the Burnaby Neighbourhood House and MS Society of BC/Yukon, the gift wrapping service will be done by donation starting November 29 to December 24 and all proceeds will go back to the charities. Gift wrap booths are located in front of The Disney Store on the Ground Level, and in front of Plenty on the Upper Level.
Metropolis Gift Card
Sometimes you might not know what to get someone or you just don’t have the time, a Metropolis gift card is the perfect way to surprise your loved ones this season so they can get whatever their hearts desire and at their own time. Metropolis’ gift card is available for purchase at Guest Services and their dedicated holiday gift card kiosks. They are redeemable throughout the mall, as well as 22 other Ivanhoe Cambridge shopping centres across Canada.
The gift card is also available for purchase online at www.metropolisatmetrotown.com.
